Nationalist Government Mansion was formerly the Senior Industry Occupational School of Chongqing. After The Announcement of Nationalist Government Relocated to Chongqing had been issued in November, 1937, The Division of Public Works of Chongqing Municipal Government was ordered to redevelop the building into the Nationalist Government Mansion. Just 3 days later, Lin Sen, president of Nationalist Government, arrived in Chongqing. Nationalist Government made an official announcement that this building became an office for the government.

Nationalist Government was relocated to Nanjing in May, 1946. Chiang Kai-shek announced in August, 1949 that Nationalist Government Executive Yuan, Legislative Yuan, Judicial Yuan, Examination Yuan and Supervision Yuan will be moved to Chongqing from Guangzhou and this building will continued to be the government office. In November 1949, the government evacuated from this building. After liberation, it was used by Southwest Military and Political Committee.

Nationalist Government Mansion is of a Chinese classical wooden structure. The architrave features Chinese traditional painting. The spacious frontal is decorated with two pavilions built over a stone tablet. The mansion is built upon a grand stylobate, giving a superb look. Since Chongqing was liberated in November 30, Nationalist Government Mansion was used by Southwest Military and Political Committee. The master building was dismantled in 1979 and redeveloped into Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. There is only a one-storey masonry-timber structure left there. The former Chongqing Municipal People’s Government along with the other buildings left over was dismantled in April 2010.
