The Catholic Church prototype for the Catholic Church of Rongchang, the site is located in Rongchang District of Chongqing City, West Street, as a result of the movie "1942" movie scenes to be included in the two old building sequence, but the movie has not been built, but the site finder, for the convenience of scene experience, according to the proportion of 1:0.8 in October 2016 to complete the construction of imitation.

The church fell into a conflict with a local god greeting activity at Longshui Town, Dazu County, Sichuan Province (today’s Dazu District, Chongqing) in the 16 year of reign of emperor Guangxu of Qing dynasty. Yu Dongchen, a coal transporter, organized hundreds of local people, killed 12 catholic believers and destroyed more than 200 houses of the catholic believers as well as burned down the church. This is the well-known Yu Dongchen Religious Crime in the modern history of China for which the government paid 250kg of silver. The French Catholicism church decided to build a new church in Rongchang County with the compensation, which is today’s Rongchang Catholicism Church.

Featuring a Gothic-style master building, Rongchang Catholicism Church consists of master building, priest building and church school. More often than not, it was destroyed and occupied, with 1/4 of it existing to this date. After the liberation, it was enlisted for other purpose. The religious activities resumed since 1980. It is currently a culture relic protection site at provincial level.
