Xinhua Daily was founded in Wuhan since Jan 11, 1938. When Wuhan fell into the hands of Japan on October 25, Xinhua Daily was relocated to Chongqing. The office, editing department, printing department along with others moved to Hualongqiao in the suburban area of Chongqing after May 3rd and May 4th bombing took place in the year of 1939. However, Xinhua Daily Business Office was separately relocated to 208 Minsheng Road for its particular property of work. From then on, the new site played a key role in distribution of subscribed newspaper and selling books regarding revolutionary advancement. In addition, it was a critical site for CPC South Bureau to contact with the underground communist comrades and the youth with advanced idea, and to deploy tasks as well as carry out a uniform strategy. Upon liberation, the site of Xinhua Daily Business Office was preserved. It was awarded a culture relic protection site at provincial level in 1980.
